An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has made a Breath of the Wild-inspired island, and it is incredible.
This player, Kairi, has spent hours and hours and hours (600, ish) designing their island to mimic areas in the open-world Zelda title. It’s incredibly creative, and they’ve put a lot of thought into how the items and terraforming could be used to look like places in Link’s journey. On the beaches, there are Bokoblin camps with spiky fences, campfires, custom patterns, and a washing line, for added flair. There are even red barrels, like the ones Link would explode to cause havoc in combat.

A dropped apple on a table symbolises the Heart Container, and Kakariko Village and Hateno Village are designed here with the villagers’ homes. Breath of the Wild’s ruins and shrines are tucked away towards the northern edge of the island, and the campsite is just as lovely, with a tanuki statue and rock pool next to it. The Spring of Wisdom with sculptures and waterfalls is impressive, and the Witch Forest has its own custom patterns to make it look just like the one in the game.

Kairi’s used lots of mushroom recipes to recreate the aesthetic of Breath of the Wild, which must have taken such a long time to collect and make. Even with this theme, the villagers have their own garden based on their personality, and these spaces don’t look out of place. And, if you can believe it, Kairi says they didn’t plan any of this. Their inspiration took them from corner to corner, and the result is breathtaking.
