League/Tournament Brands:

  • A six-part feature series based on the most recent Rocket League Championship Series World Championship will be broadcast on TBS.
  • The series begins this Friday and is part of a broader deal between ELEAGUE and Psyonix that includes ad/sponsorship sales and other joint efforts.
  • ELEAGUE will also air a separate two-part Rocket League program in December, although the details have yet to be revealed.

Television network TBS will broadcast an “ELEAGUE | Road to the Rocket League World Championship” documentary series beginning this week, Turner Sports announced today.

The six-part series, which chronicles the competition and pro players from June’s Season 7 Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) World Championship in Newark, New Jersey, will begin this Friday, Oct. 4 following live coverage of a Major League Baseball postseason game. The series will continue to air weekly on Friday evenings into November.

According to ELEAGUE, camera crews filmed nine of the World Championship’s 12 teams to chart their respective paths to the season-ending tournament. The series is part of the deal that ELEAGUE and Rocket League publisher Psyonix announced in February, which also included ad and sponsorship sales for the RLCS, as well as a Collegiate Rocket League live event.

Beyond this six-part series on the RLCS Season 7 World Championship, ELEAGUE has also announced plans to broadcast “an additional two-part Rocket League-centric program” on Dec. 13 and 20, according to a release.

No further details have been announced thus far about the December programming, although in both December 2017 and 2018, Turner Sports hosted a $150K USD ELEAGUE Cup: Rocket League tournament. Each tournament was streamed live and then followed by a multi-part feature series on TBS after the fact. However, the RLCS Season 8 World Championship takes place on Dec. 13-15 in Madrid, Spain, so it could be connected to that event instead. Psyonix’s original deal with ELEAGUE included planned TBS feature series coverage for RLCS Season 8, as well.
