Blizzard Entertainment has made a ‘commemorative bundle’ of free in-game items for StarCraft 2 to honour the legacy of Geoff ‘iNcontroL’ Robinson, a player and commentator who died in July (via Polygon).
As a highly influential and established member of the esports community, dedicated to StarCraft and its fans, Robinson’s passing rocked players across the world. When the news broke, tributes poured in with stories of how Robinson’s joyfulness, quick wit, and commitment changed the game for the better. In a statement published yesterday, Blizzard said that ‘the StarCraft community lost someone incredibly special’ and he was a ‘one-in-a-million human being who genuinely cared about every single person he met.’
Beginning on October 22, Geoff “iNcontroL” Robinson’s Announcer Pack, Portrait, and some additional items we’re creating in his honor—will be granted to every player on log-in, for free, forever.

Announcer Packs are an item that lets certain characters become the game announcer instead of one of the default voices. Pros like Sean ‘Day[9]’ Plott, Yong ‘Jeon’ Jun, and Nathan ‘Nathanias’ Fabrikant have been turned into announcers with decorated portraits and voice lines. Robinson’s Announcer Pack was first released in 2017, but will be included for free as well as a collection of in-game items with the new bundle.
‘We’d like to believe that StarCraft was important to Geoff. But what we know, beyond any doubt, is that Geoff was important to StarCraft,’ Blizzard said. From today, by logging into StarCraft 2, players will be able to pick up the commemorative bundle for free.
