Twitch has hired former Spotify Product Director Tracy Chan to lead its product & engineering for music division. With musicians and artists taking to Twitch as a revenue stream due in large part to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, creating and strengthening the infrastructure of the genre has become a priority.
Previously, Chan served a four-year stint as director of product management for Spotify where he focused on creating ways to develop analytic tools for artists to assist in learning about their audiences and how to promote growth.
In April of 2019 Chan’s startup CrowdAlbum–which connected fans to artists by building digital picture histories of concerts–was acquired by Spotify.
Twitch continues to develop its music team led by Mike Olson who said in a statement that Chan will focus on the Twitch music experience, especially live music, all the while developing ways to help artists and fans connect better.
