The Singapore DOTA 2 Mayor, the first major of the 2021 DOTA Pro Circuit, was confirmed by the organizer of the PGL sports tournament.
The first big event since January 2020 will take place off-line from 27 March to 4 April.
Together with the ONE Championship, ONE Esports subsidiary, and Singapore Tourism Board, it will be organised by the Singapore Major. The Singapore Major in 2020 was expected to take place before ONE Esports was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
PGL CEO Silviu Stroie commented on the news in a release that stated: ‘We are pleased to return after Dota 2 Singapore Invitational 2019 to Singapore for another great tournament. The first major of the winter 21 DPC is one of the best places possible – Singapore is honored by PGL.
“We’ve now returned to Southeast Asia with another memorable event after running the Manila Major and the Kuala Lumpur Major. We are committed to the Singapore Games Association (SGGA) with a strategic alliance with Singapore’s largest sports business association, and we are excited to be hosting major events for SEA and Dota 2 again, and more.”
The Singapore Major will feature 18 of the world’s best teams competing for the $500,000 ( £364,902) prize cash share of the lion.
The year 2021 will be a busy PGL year. The first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Primary, which will take place after a two-year break, was announced in January.
