Publisher of Silent Hill Konami and Bloober Team have announced they’ve signed a “strategic cooperation agreement” that will see the two companies working together on future games.
In a press release sent earlier this morning (and reported by MCV), Konami said it was “excited to work with Bloober Team and other highly regarded development partners to produce games from existing and new IPs.” Bloober Team’s own CEO Piotr Babieno added “It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work. The fact that such a renowned company as Konami has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market.”
Of course, the hope is that studio responsible for horror titles Layers of Fear and The Medium will be working on a new Silent Hill game, though the announcement only briefly mentioned its classic survival horror series in the context of several other Konami titles such as Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid.
Back in February, it was rumoured that Konami were the mystery company Babieno was referring to when he said the studio was “Working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher.” Whether we will get a new Silent Hill from Bloober Team, or if they’re working on something else entirely, it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out.
