Intensely competitive multiplayer survival game Rust will come to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2020, as announced during X019.
Back in 2014, Rust creator Garry Newman couldn’t believe his eyes: “we never expected Rust to ever sell over a million copies, to sell over a million within a couple of months while still in really early development is insane to us.” The game’s success wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, and Facepunch Studios wasn’t “without worries.” “Will these millions of people expect us to evolve the game in the ways we’re going to evolve it? Will we be able to make them happy?” he continued. Well, I’m sure Newman’s past self would be thrilled to hear that the competitive multiplayer survival game will be playable on consoles as well as PC.
It’ll take some time though, because Facepunch Studios is working with publisher and developer Double Eleven to ensure the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are the definitive Rust experience. Players will battle with up to 100 survivors and attempt to eke out a living by building a base and staying on the defensive. Or, they could hunt down and eliminate the opposition, piecing together the possible story behind the strange island and its scientists.
Rust is out now on PC, and of course, will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2020. Watch the announcement trailer below.
