Renegades, Team WaR and Triumph Win Call of Duty League Challengers Championships
The Call of Duty League Challengers season has concluded with winners being crowned in APAC, Europe and North America.
In the Asia Pacific region it was Renegades who took home the $15,000 and title of 2020 Call of Duty League Challengers Champions. They defeated Chiefs Esports Club in two best of five’s to win the Grand Final; coming up from the losers bracket. Their two 3-0 sweeps in the Grand Final saw them reverse their previous performance against Chiefs where they lost 3-2 in the Winners Finals to be put down to the Losers Bracket. The Renegades roster consists of:
- Kerrin “Crimzah” Tuner
- Lincoln “Fighta” Ferguson
- Amer “Pred” Zulbeari
- Jayden “Setzyy” Hewitt
- Daniel “Swifty” Hickey
Their Challengers Championship win is their 15th of the season as they complete a clean sweep for the 2020 season winning every Modern Warfare Challengers tournament they have entered.
In Europe it was Team WaR who took home the larger $40,000 prize and crowned Call of Duty Challengers Champions for 2020. Team WaR won two back to back 3-1 series against Singularity in the Grand Finals to win; after coming from the losers bracket. Just like Renegades, it was their Grand Final opponents who knocked them out in Winners Finals and forced them to come back through the losers bracket. The Team WaR roster consists of:
- Marcus “Afro”
- Bjarne “Denza” Sleebus
- David “Dqvee” Davies
- Harry “Harry” Payne
- Stephen “Vortex” Allen
This is their 10th Call of Duty Challengers tournament win of the season which cements them as the best amateur team in Europe.
In North America it was a different story as Triumph took home the $50,000 prize and became the 2020 Call of Duty Challengers Champions. Triumph made their way through the winners bracket knocking out Five Star in Winners Finals. Triumph’s Grand Finals opponents Carnage came all the way from Losers Semis and defeated 3 out of the top 4 seeds being Atlanta FaZe Academy, Five Star and WestR. However, Triumph were too strong. Their 3-1 Grand Final victory came from the experienced roster of:
- Conor “Diamondcon” Johst
- Tyler “FeLo” Johnson
- Jared “Nagafen” Harrell
- Matthew “Royalty” Faithfull
- Eli “Standy” Bentz
This was only Triumphs third tournament win of the season; with their last victory coming back in Challengers Cup 3 in May.
With all three Challengers Champions being named, we may see some of these teams or players in the Call of Duty League next season. However we’ll have to see who is crowned Call of Duty League Champion at the end of this month. The CDL Playoffs start on Wednesday 19th August, and this is not an event you want to miss.
