Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port flaunts glorious 4K resolution at 60 frames per second

Rockstar Games has released a new trailer showing off the technical improvements of the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port.

With the appearance of a Rockstar Games Launcher and the Australian Classifications Board rating a PC port of the game, a Red Dead Redemption 2 was almost definite. Rockstar Games formalised the announcement earlier this month, and revealed that players who pre-order the game through its dedicated launcher would receive perks.

These include a free upgrade to the Premium Edition of the game, and the Special Edition and Ultimate Edition will be discounted by $20 each. Players will also enjoy bonuses like 50 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online, the Outlaw Survival Kit, and the Treasure Map for the single-player campaign. And, between now and October 22, pre-order purchasers will take their pick of two Rockstar Games titles for PC for free.

Rockstar Games said that Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC is promised a ‘range of technical, graphical and performance enhancements’ that will guarantee it is ‘the ultimate version of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang’s open world epic’. Flaunting 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, it certainly looks the part. Rockstar Games has published the system requirements in a blog post here, too.

The technical improvements coming to Red Dead Redemption 2 are ‘increased draw distances for better navigation; higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting; higher quality snow trails, improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances; tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal.’ Gosh almighty. Enough to get any cowboy to fall hat over spurred heels.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it will be coming to PC on November 5. Watch the new trailer below.
