PS5 Denuvo Anti-Cheat Tools Are Coming Soon

Both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X have a lot of incredible new features to bring into a new generation of gaming, but it looks like Sony is looking to make the PS5 more beefed up with official Denuvo integration. Team Blue has confirmed in a recent press statement that the PS5 anti-cheat tools are on the way with Denuvo’s Tools and Middleware program.

Announced by Sony and Irdeto, a leading company in digital security, the new implementation aims to protect games and studios of all sizes. This is a controversial move, something that many studios have been “called out” for when adding Denuvo to their titles (remember the Doom Eternal debacle?).

For those that may be asking what this even is, the Denuvo Anti-Cheat program is one that is so rooted into a player’s system that the level of invasion is seen as something to be concerned about by many in the gaming community. The topic of Denuvo becomes especially heated on PC where all information is accessed, including personal intel. With a console, the level of invasion isn’t quite so high as it would be on a personal computer, and the latest announcement promises that no performance issues will be seen as a byproduct of this addition.

“Cheating ruins video games for honest players,” said Reinhard Blaukovitsch, managing director of Denuvo, Irdeto. “This can lead to lower engagement, game traffic and shrinking revenues for game publishers. We are really proud be able to help the world’s most talented developers to bring rich experiences for gamers on PlayStation 5.”

With this addition, the Denuvo Anti-Cheat tools being added are primarily targeted towards cheaters and hackers with no DRM at the forefront. It will be interesting to see what the reaction to this reveal will be considering how on PC, Denuvo usually has some players avoiding certain game releases altogether.

What do you think about the PS5 Denuvo Anti-Cheat addition that’s on the way? Are you concerned about Denuvo’s presence on the console, or are you optimistic that this will help improve online gaming experiences? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below!
