New Jersey players could soon bet on esports after laws allowing it to happen were registered in the Lower House.
The Senate will now be able to determine whether it wants to propose the vertical as a legal method of state gambling.
Although sports betting is controlled by different conventional New Jersey competitions, that is not currently the case with esports.
In fellow US state Nevada, betting on this vertical was already implemented.
Last week, the House overwhelmingly voted in favor of bringing the law on esports to the next level.
It seems that the vertical is particularly involved and that the legislation is supported or co-sponsored only by five separate Congressmen.
In favor of esports betting in New Jersey, one of these people claims its success is rising year after year. As such, this demand is necessary to ensure.
They said the following.
“Whether they follow along online or in person, hundreds of millions of people watch esports each year – and that number is only growing.
“This bill will amend our existing sports betting law to include eSports and ultimately expand on the industry to make it more successful.”
Meanwhile, Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling had the following to say about the possibility of esports betting in New Jersey.
“With online sports betting now legal in New Jersey, a large number of people already interested in this type of gaming and a lack of physical sporting events to bet on right now due to the pandemic, the time is right for us to expand legal wagering beyond traditional sports.”

In Nevada, rules were changed earlier this year on esports betting. Through this, the players will now wager for a League of Legends and the Call of Duty League and the European Championships and Masters.
