  • 15-time NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett is investing in full-service esports company Triumph Esports through his event management and production company, Big Ticket Sports LLC.
  • The newly formed Triumph Esports currently has two assets: Rivalcade, a competitive esports and experiential event company, and Triumph Gaming, an esports team and player development organization competing in the Overwatch Contenders league.
  • Triumph will bring esports to Big Tickets Sports’ established “Hoop It Up” three on three basketball tour.

Kevin Garnett is the latest to join several former and current NBA players such as Michael Jordan, Steph Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, Rick Fox, and many more investing in esports. Garnett is investing in the newly formed esports company Triumph Esports through his experiential event management and production company, Big Ticket Sports. Garnett is a 15-time NBA-All Star, who has played for the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Brooklyn Nets. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Triumph Esports describes itself as a “full-service esports company” that currently has two assets: Rivalcade, a competitive esports and experiential event company, and Triumph Gaming, an esports team and player development organization competing in the Overwatch Contenders league. Triumph Esports also fields rosters in Apex Legends and Teamfight Tactics.

“Our relationship with Triumph Esports is a natural fit as we look to showcase and elevate shared lifestyle experiences through competition, content, and live events,” said Garnett in a release. “Our vision is to create unique experiences that impact our fans across a variety of passion points.”

Garnett’s Big Ticket Sports is running two event formats: the “Hoop It Up” three-on-three basketball and “Kick It” soccer tours. The company is planning to add an esports experience to the established “Hoop It Up” tour as Triumph CEO Scott O’Leary states in the release. “We are very excited to work with Hoop It Up as they converge basketball, music, esports and the urban lifestyle at their events.”

The Esports Observer reached out to Triumph Esports for further comment and clarification. We will update this article if we receive a response.
