League of Legends: 100 Thieves Releases Meteos

Having been benched back in late June, William “Meteos” Hartman has now been released from 100 Thieves.

Things weren’t looking good for Meteos back in week 4; when he was first taken off the LCS roster and moved to Academy. It hasn’t been a great Summer Split for 100 Thieves either. Though they’ve had a slight bounce-back in the most recent weeks, including a shock victory against Cloud9. Week 6 saw the side go 0-2 against Team Liquid and Team SoloMid. However, 100 Thieves wouldn’t have been favorites to take either match.

With 100 Thieves in eighth place heading into week 7, they find themselves in a tight spot. With Immortals and Dignitas just one win behind them in joint-ninth; and the majority of the pack ahead of them being two victories ahead. Just seventh place, Counter Logic Gaming sits one win ahead of them. 100 Thieves is going to need victories, likely a 2-0 weekend if they want to push on and make playoffs.

Week 7 could be the weekend to do it; with matches against the aforementioned Counter Logic Gaming they could go seventh, then the following match sees them play Golden Guardians. A 2-0 weekend could see 100 Thieves in the middle of the table and mounting a late surge for playoffs, and Worlds.

What about Meteos?

As for Meteos, he’ll now be looking for a new side, though he admits joining so late in the Summer Split isn’t ideal for him, or a team. So we’ll likely hear more from Meteos as we end the Summer Split and prepare for Spring Split 2021. Meteos was quick to point out that he made a “mistake” for his Tweet just prior to official word of his benching from the LCS roster, and that it was “unprofessional”.

Meteos has spent time in the LCS  at Cloud9, Phoenix1, FlyQUest, OpTic (then Immortals) before rejoining 100 Thieves in Spring.

100 Thieves look to youth

With Meteos now out of the Academy roster, 100 Thieves brings in Shane “Kenvi” Espinoza to replace him. Meteos was offered to split time with him, however, Meteos declined has he searches for his next team, likely ready for 2021.

Plus, with Kenvi joining the Academy side, 100 Thieves have added another new player in Top laner Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij, who also played with Kenvi in the 100 THieves Next amateur side. Kevin “FallenBandit” Wu and 100X coach Nxi.

100X will now play in the Grand Finals of the Upsurge Premier League after winning a clean 3-0 victory against Radiance.
