Today, chat platform developer Guilded announced that it has raised a $7M USD Series A financing led by private equity investment firm Matrix Partners. Further investors that participated in the round included Initialized Capital, Susa Ventures, and Sterling.VC. As part of the investment, Ilya Sukhar, general partner at Matrix Partners, joined Guilded’s board of directors.
Guilded communicated that it will use the new capital to grow its team, further develop its product, and forge partnerships with game developers and publishers as well as with esports organizations. The company plans to launch a tournament feature for its “all-in-one chat platform,” which is a competitor to Discord.
Early-Stage venture capital firms Initialized Capital and Suza Ventures as well as sports, media, and real estate venture capital fund Sterling.VC previously invested in Guilded when it co-led a $3.2M seed investment in September 2017.
