“I’ve dreamt of having a skin in Fortnite since I started playing the game,” enthused Tyler “Ninja” Blevins in an announcement. “Today, my dream becomes reality.” His shout-out means the skin that was discovered by dataminers is official, and it’s got a “Ninja’s Edge” backpack and a pair of katanas is its harvesting gear. The “Pon Pon”—his signature shuffle—is also coming to the game as an emote. The cosmetic goes on sale in the Epic Games Store from January 16 to January 19.

Last year, Ninja jumped ship to stream video games on Microsoft’s Mixer instead of Amazon’s Twitch. After the split, Twitch used Ninja’s inactive account to broadcast other channels that are similar to the streamer’s content, with a jovial comment, “The streamer you’re looking for is in another castle.” However, in one instance, a porn account was shown among those related live streams. Ninja expressed his disgust and dismay that his young audience may have seen the explicit content. “This is the line. This is the straw. We’re trying to get the whole channel taken down to begin with, or at least not promote other streamers and other channels on my brand, on my freakin’ profile. So for anyone who saw that, for anyone whose kids [saw that], or just obviously didn’t want to see that, I apologise and I’m sorry,” he said.
Increasingly, streamers and content creators are leaving Twitch for Mixer. Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, known for his skill in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, left in October and promised it would be the “same Shroud” in a “new home.” Cory “King Gothalion” Michael said it was an “actually kinda easy” choice to switch from Twitch to Mixer, too.
Fortnite is out now for iOS, Android, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
