XSET Gaming has arrived.

A new esports organization revealed itself on Twitter earlier today after several months of teasers. XSET Gaming has arrived on the scene with former FaZe Clan President Greg Selkoe at the helm. Other FaZe execs, including Vice President of Apparel/Special Projects Wil Eddins and Vice President of Business Development Clinton Sparks, joined Selkoe in his new esports venture. The organization sports the motto #reptheset and has already signed several top competitive gamers, streamers and professional athletes.

With an emphasis on strength, unity and diversity, XSET proudly released their first video on Twitter. It sports several gaming personalities, including former Call of Duty professional Jordan “Proofy” Cannon and Twitch streamer Ashley “AshleyBTW” Morales. Co-Founder Greg Selkoe spoke to the New York Times regarding this revolutionary esports organization as they look to represent players and personalities from all walks of life:

“We realized there was a huge void that needed to be filled in the gaming marketplace. Gamers are from all walks of life and all backgrounds. But if you look at the current organizations, they sort of resemble a frat house. They’re not reflective of the racial and gender diversity in the gaming world.”

Although indirect, Selkoe is likely speaking to the environment created by FaZe Clan for their brand. XSET Gaming is looking to reshape the gaming culture by empowering anyone and everyone.

“We have a responsibility to do something that pushes change. We intend to have a very clear social mission of incision”. Selkoe continues, “We want to stand up for kids who have been bullied or feel like there’s not a gaming organization for them. We want our organization to look like the youth of America.” (To that end, the “x” in the name XSET is meant to represent a variable meaning “anyone,” paired with “set” as in team or group.)”

Thus far, XSET Gaming has recruited former Fortnite and current Valorant professional Zander “Thwifo” Kim, Call of Duty player Cory “Bartonologist” Barton, two-time Super Bowl Champion Kyle Van Noy and multiple highly regarded Fortnite pros.

Fortnite’s popularity granted XSET the chance to actively pursued free-agents. Perhaps the most successful of the bunch is Alexander “Av” Vanderveen. This two-time FNCS finalist and two-time Solo Cash Cup winner has made quite the name for himself since the release of Fortnite Chapter 2. He placed 27th at DreamHack Anaheim and formed an outstanding duo with former Team Liquid member Ryan “Chap” Chaplo. ESTNN recently ranked Av 22nd in our top 50 Fortnite players in Chapter 2.

XSET also acquired another pair of NA East professionals, Tyler “Knight” McDougal and Ethan “RogueShark” Kammerman. These two quickly became one of the best duos in Chapter 2 – Season 2, winning multiple Daily Duo Cups and taking third place in the Fortnite Champion Series. Knight and RogueShark also have their fair share of solo accomplishments.

Former Ghost Gaming player Christian “Snood” Hastie is the final member of XSET’s initial talent grab as it relates to Fortnite. Although he’s been quiet as of late, Snood took tenth place at the Season X Championship alongside fellow XSET member thwifo and former TSM competitor Cloud. Snood also came extremely close to qualifying for the Fortnite World Cup, but ultimately fell short.

Who’s Next?

XSET seems like one of the more reputable and reliable organizations to come seemingly out of the woodwork. With former FaZe execs running the ship, it appears that XSET intends to grow its roster of players. Some notable free-agents in Fortnite specifically include Rocco “Saf” Morales, who is a multiple-time champion. He and long-time duo partner Zayt recently took first place in last season’s Duo FNCS. Former Team Liquid member Chap is also currently a free-agent. More acquisitions for XSET Gaming will likely come down soon with several high-stakes tournaments on the horizon.
