However, Yoshinori Kitase said the team hasn’t “exactly decided yet.”
With Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake being available for several weeks, fans have had enough time to digest the story and the apparent direction. The question now is: When can we expect the second part to release? Producer Yoshinori Kitasi already confirmed that development was underway but the team is still undecided on how many parts there will be in total.
This is according to an interview in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Ultimania guide book, currently available in Japan. Twitter user Aibo has been posting snippets from the same (translation via Gematsu) and had this interesting response from Kitase and co-director Testsuya Nomura. About the number of parts, Kitase said,
On being asked about how the next part would be, Nomura responded, This seems to indicate a somewhat smaller release for part 2 but it’s hard to say at this point.
