In an official news post, Bethesda has kept Fallout 76 players posted on the status of new features coming to the game in 2020, such as a Public Test Server, perk loadouts, and more.
The Wastelanders update will shake up Fallout 76 by bringing NPCs and factions to the massively multiplayer online apocalypse. ‘Wastelanders may be a big focus, but it’s not the only focus,’ Bethesda said, and revealed how it’s all coming along with its other plans for the game.
A public test server is in the works, which will allow the developer to experiment with changes and roll them out smoothly to all Fallout 76 players. Perk loadouts will let players create their own Perk Card build; a feature that would be exceptionally helpful with the game’s live support events and raids. Both of these features are still in their preliminary stages, and would hopefully be added in 2020.
The Legendary system has been pushed back to Q1 2020, as priorities were adjusted. In addition, a second iteration of improvements for public events are planned, including additional cooldown adjustments and performance-based loot. This is set for Q1 2020 too, and Bethesda is working on social feature fixes in response to player feedback.
Features like PC text chat and the option to rejoin the same server when dropped are being looked at, but do not have a time-frame for their inclusion in the game. The developer concluded its news post by encouraging players to contact its team about their thoughts and requests for Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
