Bethesda and ID Software have released an official announcement trailer Doom 64, a re-release of the cult classic for the current generation of consoles and PC (via Gematsu).
Back in 1997, Doom 64 was considered to be the most aesthetically pleasing game of the series, and that it surpassed even the PC version of Doom. Critics praised the punchier and more exciting level designs, which created a pervasive tension generated from the ever-present demonic threat and the tight focus of the corridor-shooter. As it was only released on the Nintendo 64, it procured a cult following and players still sigh dreamily when remembering those chunky creepy creatures.
Doom 64 will hit the Nintendo eShop on November 22, and then the re-release will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 20, 2020. It will also be a free bonus to those who pre-order Doom Eternal, which has been delayed by four months. ID Software said that the game needs some extra time in the oven, and the extension will enable it to ‘deliver a gaming experience that is worth the wait.’
Doom 64 will launch for Nintendo Switch on November 22, and then for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 20, 2020. Watch the new trailer below.
