Scorestreaks return in Black Ops Cold War, but not as you know them.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will see Scorestreaks return and replace Modern Warfare’s Killstreaks. A massive change with this year’s Scorestreaks is that they will not reset on death. However, don’t worry, you are rewarded for staying alive and chaining kills together.
In Black Ops Cold War, when you chain together kills you will earn a “Chain Score”, this will multiply the score earned per kill. Along with kills, you will also earn score for helping your team in objectives. To prevent Scorestreak spam, each Scorestreak will have a cooldown following its use, this prevents players from spamming streaks.
Treyarch released an official description of the new Scorestreak system:
“A dynamic and rewarding Scorestreak System means score is no longer lost on death, and you’ll earn score multipliers for stringing together multiple kills in the same life. You’ll also earn score for helping your team to play the objective, and each Scorestreak goes on a cool down after it’s used to prevent spamming.”
While this new Scorestreak system will take some getting used to for veterans, it will be more rewarding for newer and lesser skilled players. While some fans have worried about the possibility of many high-score streaks being earned in each map. Alpha players have confirmed that the score needed for the high streaks is very high and this means that there will not be a spam of overpowered streaks in every match.
