Assassin’s Creed: Gold is a new audio drama coming to Audible in 2020, and will feature the voices of Anthony Head and Riz Ahmed (via Prima Games).
Ubisoft has never been one to twiddle its thumbs and wonder what’s next for its portfolio of properties. With regards to Assassin’s Creed, there are comic books, a trio of short films, one feature film, two board games, and a symphony tour. Audible already offer the comic books and graphic novels, but Assassin’s Creed: Gold will be an entirely original affair.
It begins with Aliyah Kahn, an entrepreneur with a sly and underhanded approach to her earnings. One day, she loses shockingly to a stranger named Gavin Banks and the only way to settle the debt is to agree to his terms and train as an Assassin. Banks imparts the clandestine knowledge of the Assassin and Templar war, and that a secret message inscribed on an illegal form of currency forged in the Great Recoinage of 1696 could change everything.
“With a cast of characters beloved the world-over by fans of the franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Gold tells a gripping tale of imminent economic collapse, featuring appearances from Warden of the Royal Mint, Isaac Newton, con artist and counterfeiter William Chaloner, blind assassin Omar Khaled and assassin trainer Rose Galloway,” the blurb revealed. “Equal parts adrenaline-fueled and thought-provoking, Assassin’s Creed: Gold draws a compelling parallel with the financial chaos of Isaac Newton’s 17th century Britain and the economic uncertainty of our more recent history.”
Assassin’s Creed: Gold is coming in 2020, but if you’re feeling antsy, dive into Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. There is oodles upon oodles of quests in this time-twister as Ubisoft leaned heavily into the role-playing and determinant elements of its story. Also, I like it.
