Respawn may be hinting that a new hero is coming to the game by the name of Revenant, according to datamined files and an unsuspicious tweet from a developer (via VG247).Ā
Hot off the heels of Crypto, it seems that Respawn is moving and shaking to include a legend named Revenant. The name has popped up a few times before, like Wattson and Crypto, but it was anyoneās guess what the hero looked like or what their abilities would be. But, dataminer That1MiningGuy has shared an image said to display an internal document on character designs and development.Ā

At the time that document was printed, Crypto, Revenant and Loba were in production. Two new heroes named āRampartā and āValkā were in alpha, and four characters are set to be worked on in the future. Now, we donāt know if this image of the document is legit, but we should take a closer look at Revenant. It seems that itās a red robot with chunky shoulder pads and spindly limbs. The perfect physique, if you ask me, but thatās an aside.
Alex Graner, level designer at Respawn, shared a few images of Octaneās Gauntlet for Blocktober, which isĀ a trend that reveals the blocky and rough versions of game environments before theyāre polished up for actual gameplay. In Granerās Gauntlet, upon one of the screens showing the Apex Legends, thereās an image of a red robot with chunky shoulder pads and spindly limbs. Itās the exact same image thatās seen on this internal design document, and given that Graner hasnāt deleted the post, itās possible that this character is next on the cards.Ā

Another dataminer, Shrugtal, claimed that they have found Revenantās abilities and what their voice sounds like. Speculation is swirling that the new hero is a Simulacrum judging by their gravelly, acerbic voice. In Titanfall — also made by Respawn — Simulacrums were people who had their consciousness transferred to a robotic body upon their death. This seems well-suited for the spooky season, and plenty of players believe that Revenant will be officially revived at the end of Meltdown.Ā
These are all leaks and have not been acknowledged by EA or Respawn, so we should take this information with a pinch of salt. Actually, more than a pinch, but just enough to form a good olā protective circle around us. Wouldnāt want to be taken by surprise.Ā
