Respawn may be hinting that a new hero is coming to the game by the name of Revenant, according to datamined files and an unsuspicious tweet from a developer (via VG247).
Hot off the heels of Crypto, it seems that Respawn is moving and shaking to include a legend named Revenant. The name has popped up a few times before, like Wattson and Crypto, but it was anyone’s guess what the hero looked like or what their abilities would be. But, dataminer That1MiningGuy has shared an image said to display an internal document on character designs and development.
Alex Graner, level designer at Respawn, shared a few images of Octane’s Gauntlet for Blocktober, which is a trend that reveals the blocky and rough versions of game environments before they’re polished up for actual gameplay. In Graner’s Gauntlet, upon one of the screens showing the Apex Legends, there’s an image of a red robot with chunky shoulder pads and spindly limbs. It’s the exact same image that’s seen on this internal design document, and given that Graner hasn’t deleted the post, it’s possible that this character is next on the cards.
These are all leaks and have not been acknowledged by EA or Respawn, so we should take this information with a pinch of salt. Actually, more than a pinch, but just enough to form a good ol’ protective circle around us. Wouldn’t want to be taken by surprise.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
