PGL will host their own Apex Legends Global Series event across every competitive region through October 20 – 25.

PGL has announced that they are adding their own Apex Legends Global Series event set for October 20-25. The event features a $100,000 USD prize pool up for grabs throughout EU, NA, SA, APAC North, APAC South, and MEA alongside ALGS points contributing to the Global Final.

The PGL Showdown will begin on October 20 with qualifiers held until October 21. The 20 best teams from each regional qualifier will then earn their way into their region’s finals that will take place from October 24 to October 25. As it stands, 320 teams are able to join the EU and NA qualifiers, while there are only 160 spaces available in every other region.

Fans can tune into the PGL Showdown Finals from 12 pm CET on October 24 for the European Finals. The North American Finals will take place on October 25 at 12 pm PDT.

Silviu Stroie, Chief Executive Officer for PGL, said: “We are very happy to be able to deliver a top-class Apex tournament to this incredible community in these uncertain times. We love Apex Legends, and we are ready to set up an unforgettable show.”

Positive signs for the ALGS

When Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts announced the Apex Legends Global Series last year, PGL was one of the organizers added to the event list. PGL and GLL were the two organizers in charge of putting on the Premier LAN events for the Apex Legends Global Series. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it so that these events never went ahead. Apex Legends having PGL run their own event online as part of the ALGS is a great sign they are keeping their partners an integral part of the 2020 series. Perhaps we should expect a GLL event to take place online at some point soon?

The prize pool breakdown of the event is as follows;

  • North America $30,000
  • Europe $30,000
  • South America $10,000
  • APAC North $10,000
  • APAC South $10,000
  • Middle East & Africa $10,000

Teams interested in competing can head to the ALGS Battlefy portal to find out more.
